Dear Students,

Instead of an in-class assessment, I thought to get creative.

Over the last two weeks, we have taken a deep dive into whether Simon Bolivar was a hero, villain, or something else entirely. Moreover, while Bolivar certainly played a central role in the liberation of Latin America from Spain, he was far from the only notable revolutionary. Use class and other online sources to determine not only the successes and failures of another revolutionary leader, but also whether history should remember him or her as a hero, villain, or something else entirely.

I have listed a bunch of extra help resources on canvas, including a list of some of the leading revolutionaries. However, you are welcome to research other major revolutionaries, but be sure that a sufficient number of credible sources exist and are easily obtainable. Please consider using JSTOR, a powerful academic search engine, available through Brimmer’s online library database (you must be on campus to access the site).
